1. Agreement

By installing, accessing, or using Dodl Notes, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the extension.

Your use of Dodl is also subject to the Privacy Policy.

2. Your content and responsibilities

You are solely responsible for the information, names, notes, and other content you input, store, or manage using Dodl. You are also responsible for ensuring your use of Dodl complies with any applicable laws, organizational requirements, or confidentiality obligations.

The developer does not have access to your readable encrypted notes and disclaims liability arising from your stored content and your compliance obligations.

3. Data handling and privacy

Dodl stores the main workspace as encrypted local data and encrypted cloud snapshots tied to your Dodl account. Optional backend services support key payloads, templates, billing metadata, support submissions, guideline processing, and selected AI-related workflows.

For details, see the Privacy Policy.

4. Encryption and recovery

Dodl uses client-side AES-GCM encryption. The developer cannot decrypt your notes.

  • You are responsible for maintaining your password, recovery key, and any offline recovery package.
  • Resetting your account password does not by itself restore access to previously encrypted notes.
  • Losing both password-based and recovery-based access methods can lead to permanent data loss.

5. Compliance and risk

Dodl is a personal note-taking product and is not specifically certified for regulated data workflows such as HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, or CCPA compliance in professional contexts. If your use case is subject to those requirements, you are responsible for determining whether and how Dodl may be used.

6. Free and Pro features

Dodl provides a free core workflow and optional paid Pro features. Pro features may include AI-supported insights, AI drafting, reusable templates, and other premium capabilities.

Paid access is managed through Stripe. Dodl may store limited Stripe customer and subscription metadata to manage access, but does not directly process or store full card information.

7. Optional Google connections

Core account, encryption, and sync flows do not depend on Google authentication. Optional Google access may be requested for Google Docs export or one-time legacy template migration. Those optional workflows are also governed by Google's terms and policies.

8. Intellectual property

You retain rights to your own content. Dodl's code, design, features, and associated assets remain the property of the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property law.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Dodl is provided as-is without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Your use of Dodl is at your sole risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or data-loss-related damages arising from your use of Dodl, including loss of credentials, third-party incidents, reliance on AI-generated output, or inability to use the product.

Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability is limited to the amount you paid to the developer for Dodl during the 12 months before the claim.

11. Retention, deletion, and uninstall

  • Deleting content within Dodl removes it from the encrypted workspace or template store on the next save or sync.
  • Clearing browser data may remove local drafts, session data, cached snapshots, and offline recovery handle records.
  • Account reset attempts to delete encrypted cloud snapshot data, key material, and local extension data.
  • Uninstalling Dodl removes local browser data but does not automatically delete encrypted cloud records or offline recovery files saved elsewhere on your device.

12. Analytics and support

Dodl may use limited anonymous analytics to improve the product unless you enable Reduced Telemetry. If you submit support or feedback, those submissions may be used to respond to your request and improve the product.

13. Updates and governing law

These terms may change over time. Continued use of Dodl after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, with disputes subject to the courts in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
